What DOES THE ONE FOR ONE
ARTIST MODEL Look Like?
One For One Artist Fund
Legal & business mgmt
Band & team salaries
50% the Artist takes home
One For One Artist Fund
50% the Artist gives to the causes that they, the fans and the partners choose to benefit
(this model reflects a sustainable and successful music bid where fans and allies have built a great future)
First I would like to state that this has never been done before(as far as we know), so we are still learning how to make it all sustainable. It's just the beginning, so bear with us.
It’s fairly straight-forward. As a musician, what I make is based on how much music, merchandise and tickets my fans purchase. That would be represented as “INCOME” in the model above.
After that we take on “COSTS.” We pay everyone who has helped us get the music heard, the tickets sold and the merchandise made and shipped - managers, agents, band members, rehearsals, equipment, logistics team, marketing and radio promoters who grind everyday to get the music on the radio and in the world for you to hear it everywhere. Then there is the taxman, which is factored into cost.
What is left is what the artist makes (that’s me!).
I am committing to giving 50% of everything I personally make as an music artist to the causes and issues that you and I care about.
To reiterate, the hope is that we can get to the point where, for every $1 dollar I personally make – I give $1 dollar to the causes you and I care about. Every time a song is sold in retail, a concert ticket is purchased or merchandise is sold, we’ll be helping a person in need. Together, we’ll use the business of music to make the world a better place.
When you go to fund or buy the music, merchandise or tickets, you will be asked what cause you would like to give to from a list of causes I care about, with the option to enter your own cause of choice. And, at the end of the year, because of your generosity we will publish the earnings of the One-For-One Fund and how much will be sent to the causes we have supported together.
HOW ONE FOR ONE ARTIST MODEL WORKS
How to contribute your purchase to the cause you care about.
It’s pretty simple. Every time you buy a product here on Kenna.com you will be asked which cause you would like to contribute to in the check out process. We make several NGO suggestions in the dropdown menu, but you can designate the “vote” towards the cause of your choice as well. At the end of the year, all of the “votes” will be tallied and mirrored against the One For One Fund created from 50% net profits of the Artist. For example, if 20% of the “votes” go to Charity Water, then 20% of the One For One Artist’s fund will go to Charity Water.
Keep in mind that when you purchase something on Kenna.com, it becomes the vote that drives the entire fund’s focus. Meaning, if the Artist makes a 2 Million dollars profit in the year, 1 Million will go to the causes voted for and your purchase here will decide where all of that money goes. The following video will demonstrate the contribution process.
